Skeleton in the Closet, gotten from justprompts.
This story is set in the 'verse of my story "Mea Culpa".
~*~
Jack opened the closet not knowing what would be behind it. And then he screamed.
He was used to things that were not-there, not-now, even not-real. He knew when he saw the skeleton that it was not-there. But it was there, standing there in front of him, supporting itself on bones that had yellowed with age, holding itself up with muscles that had rotted away.
He tried to close the door, but the skeleton put out a bony hand to stop him. Three of the phalanges flew off at the impact. One of them went through the skeleton's ribcage. One of them hit the back of the closet. One of them lodged in the skull's eye socket and stayed there.
Jack let go of the door handle and fled.
